BOSTON – The UW men’s track and field team saw three athletes earn first-team All-American honors on the final day of the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships Saturday, including junior Adam Spencer, who finished as the runner-up in the mile.
The Australian crossed the line in 4 minutes, 1.92 seconds. It is his fifth overall All-American award, third indoor honors and highest finish at NCAAs to date. Spencer’s 2024 indoor campaign comes to a close after he was the top collegiate finisher in the Millrose Games mile in February, setting a school record at 3:52.70.
Redshirt senior Jason Swarens is also a first-team All-American following his fourth-place finish in the shot put. Swarens’ mark of 65-2 ¼ (19.87m) was his second-best of the season, propelling him to his first career All-American honors indoors. Andrew Stone earned second-team All-American in the event after finishing 14th with a mark of 60-6 ¾ (18.46m). It is his second career All-American honors as well.
Senior Abdullahi Hassan was the third first-team honoree as he finished eighth in the 800 meters at 1:50.78. Hassan’s indoor season wraps up after he broke the school record in the 800 meters back in February at 1:46.61. The Toronto native was also the Big Ten runner-up in the event.
