Flynn’s outdoor freshman season was focused on the 800 and 1,500, but in her first collegiate outdoor 3,000, she ran 9:35.88, more than three seconds ahead of runner-up Lindsey Adams, a former Cal Poly
runner. This was Flynn’s first victory as a collegiate runner, including cross country and indoor and outdoor track, and the time was a personal best.
In the pole vault, freshman Sky Schuller took fourth at 13-3 ½ (4.05m). It was her collegiate best and placed her No. 7 on Stanford’s all-time outdoor list. She also strengthened her hold on the No. 4 spot on Stanford’s all-time freshmen list.
Schuller tied for the second-highest mark in the competition, but fell behind two others on a countback, needing three tries at 13-3 ½. Schuller had three unsuccessful attempts at 13-7 ¼ (4.15m), which would have come within a half-inch of the Stanford’s freshmen record.
In the men’s hammer, Anthony Argyropoulos placed fifth at 186-4 (56.79m) and was followed by Mason McKhann in sixth with a throw of 181-4 (55.27m) – a 10-foot personal best.
Action continues Saturday with action beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing through 5 p.m.
