PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State men’s and women’s track and field teams continue the outdoor season locally this weekend as the teams get set to compete Thursday and Friday in the two-day Buc Scoring Invite at Whitworth Pine Bowl.

Last Time Out – Arizona Spring Break Fiesta/ Whitworth Sam Adams Classic:
The Cougars are coming off an opening weekend that saw them tally three six top-10 times/marks in the NCAA and four program top-10 all-time marks at the Arizona Spring Break Fiesta. John Paredes (110m hurdles) and Marible Caicedo (100m hurdles) swept the short hurdles events, with Caicedo earning Pac-12 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honors after clocking the top time in the conference and the second-fastest time in WSU history at 13.09.
Caroline Jerotich, the Cougars’ women’s steeplechase record holder, won her first steeplechase of the season with the top time in the nation at 10:28.44. Sophomore javelin thrower Laura Lindquist added over seven feet to her lifetime-best, reaching a mark of 49.91m to place third last Saturday in Tucson.
Back in the Pacific Northwest, Washington State captured four event wins on the day at the Sam Adams Classic with Ashley Hollenbeck winning the 100m dash in 12.27 to highlight the day on the track for WSU. Multi athlete Sarah Kovich finished runner-up in the women’s 100m hurdles in 15.44, and later won the women’s high jump after clearing 1.69m on her second try. Across the track in the horizontal jump pits, Justin Sands won the triple jump with a mark of 13.95m. Caden Hottman captured a throws win for the Cougs after launching a 47.13m toss on his third attempt during finals.

Washington State will split its travel groups next weekend as the Cougars compete in the Texas Relays (Mar. 27-30) and Stanford Invitational (Mar. 29-30), before remaining in the Northwest the following week for the Whitworth Peace Meet on Friday, April 5.
