Dores End Day 1 with a Broken School Record

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt track and field competed at two meets Friday, Raleigh Relays and Florida Relays. Across the two meets, student-athletes tallied one reset school record, three program all-time top 10 marks and a number of top 10 placements and season and personal bests.

To start off the day in Gainesville, the 4×800-meter relay team of Audrey Allman, Nicole Anderson, Mackenzie Culpepper and Lainey Phelps came in second place with a time of 8:56.58.

Veronica Fraley kicked off field-event action with a runner-up finish in the discus. Her top throw of 60.07-meters was the No. 3 mark in NCAA Division I at the time of the competition. Florida’s Alida Van Daalen won the event with a 61.84-meter throw, which is the current NCAA Division I and SEC lead.

In the open division of the 1,500 meters, Ella Lambert turned in a personal-best time of 4:29.49 to finish fourth overall, and Cameron Fawcett placed seventh with a time of 4:32.02. In the invite division of the event, Emma Curry recorded a time of 4:28.64.

Haley Bishop and Ella Escobar improved upon their season-best marks in the 200 meters, finishing with times of 24.56 and 24.75 seconds, respectively, while Lena Gooden added her name to another program all-time top 10 list. She turned in a personal-best time of 24.08 seconds, the No. 7 mark in school history.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Allyria McBride recorded a time of 57.86 seconds, which is currently 10th in NCAA DI, to place fourth among collegians and sixth overall. Falon Spearman turned in a time of 1:01.16 in the same event.

Madison Murray had a season-best mark in the javelin, throwing 38.79 meters.

In the long jump, Gooden and Anaya Webster recorded 5.80-meter marks, which tie for seventh on Vanderbilt’s all-time performers list.

The 4×400-meter relay team of Escobar, Nicole Anderson, Alix Still and McBride advanced to the final with a time of 3:42.24. The event final will be Saturday at 4:34 p.m. CT.

To close out the evening in Raleigh, Julia Rosenberg placed 20th out of 195 runners in the 5,000 meters, turning in a time of 16:04.24 and resetting the school record. Caroline Eck recorded the No. 3 time in Vandy history in the 10,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 33:55.33. It was both student-athletes first times competing in the events.

Competition will continue Saturday in Gainesville at 11 a.m. CT with the 100-meter hurdles prelims and the invite division of the shot put. The meet will be streamed on SEC…
