Badgers wrap up action at LSU and Stanford

MADISON, Wis – The Wisconsin men’s track and field team wrapped up action at the Stanford Invitational and the Battle of the Bayou on Saturday as Gio Wearing and Adam Spencer headlined action for the Badgers.

Wearing picked up right where he left off on the track. The 2024 Big Ten Indoor Champion finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles, recording a personal best of 13.63 seconds. The time moves Wearing up to No. 4 on the UW Top-10 List.

Spencer  also got his outdoor season off to a hot start after finishing as the runner-up in the mile at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships earlier this month. The Australian won the fastest section of the 800 meters, crossing the line in 1 minute, 47.47 seconds. That time ranks No. 4 in the NCAA this season.

Freshman Bryce Stachewicz also competed in the event in his outdoor debut. He finished third in Section 8 at 1:52.88

Throwers were on center stage Saturday as Badgers competed in the discus throw and shot put. Jake Schaefer made his 2024 debut, placing fifth in the discus throw with a toss of 180 feet, 8 inches (55.08m). Multievent specialist Cade Amborn finished 15th in the event. In the shot put, Kyle Clabough was the lone Badger to compete. He placed eighth with a heave of 55-7 ¾ (16.96m).

Justin Kiefel had a strong outing in the triple jump after recording a top-10 finish in yesterday’s long jump. Kiefel placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 48-0 (14.63m).

Elliott Harris set a PR in the 400 meters with a time of 48.20.
