Eilidh Doyle has been named the first Patron of Athletics Trust Scotland – extending her support for the charity.

Eilidh, who has been a trustee since the formation of ATS, has pledged to remain committed to the Trust’s ambitions of assisting disadvantaged communities. She had served a maximum term limit on the Board.

The 17-time medallist at Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth level was crowned European champion in the 400m hurdles in 2014 and won a silver medal in her event for Scotland at three consecutive Commonwealth Games.

Now Eilidh will support ATS in its fundraising goals, acting as an important branch with stakeholders, while raising awareness of the charity’s activities.

‘I’m absolutely delighted to be named Patron of Athletics Trust Scotland,’ said Eilidh.

‘It’s remarkable all the work the charity has been doing so far and I’m even more excited about all the ideas and projects which are coming up.

‘The impact they have and will continue to have throughout the athletics communities and across the country is so important.

‘Having been involved as a trustee at the very start of the charity, it is great to see the progress that it has been made and I’m delighted to get the opportunity to be involved once again.’

Graeme Jack, Athletics Trust Scotland Chair, said: ‘In addition to being a history-making Scottish athlete and an amazing example of how lives can be transformed through participation in running and athletics, Eilidh is inspiring and relatable, and a fantastic supporter of the Trust’s objectives.

‘As Patron, she will be able to pass her experience to others within the running and corporate communities, helping the Trust to support disadvantaged communities.

‘I’m absolutely delighted that she’s agreed to take on the role as Patron of Athletics Trust Scotland.’
