SEATTLE – For the first time in school history, Washington Track & Field took three of the four Pac-12 Athlete of the Week awards. Two in one week was the biggest haul previously, but today Washington won Women’s Field Athlete of the Week (Hana Moll), Men’s Track Athlete of the Week (Evan Jenkins), and Men’s Field Athlete of the Week (Trevontay Smith).

All three Husky winners just competed in their first official collegiate outdoor meets, as Jenkins is a redshirt freshman, while Smith and Moll are true freshmen. And all three are state of Washington products.

Hana Moll (Olympia, Wash.), the reigning NCAA Indoor Champion, opened her outdoor season with a clearance of 14-feet, 9-inches in the elite section of the Texas Relays on Saturday. Moll goes straight to the top spot in the Division-I rankings this outdoor season with that make, and to No. 3 in UW history outdoors.

Jenkins (Camas, Wash.) also is No. 1 in the NCAA descending order list now in the 10,000-meters, as he made a big name for himself in his outdoor debut at the Stanford Invitational. Jenkins took down an elite field of some of the most decorated distance runners in the NCAA, breaking the UW School Record by seven seconds with a time of 28:04.58.

Freshman Trevontay Smith (Yelm, Wash.) unleashed the biggest jump of his young career at Stanford on Saturday to win the triple jump and shoot up the Husky top-10 list. Smith, who had a best indoors of 49-3 ½, flew more than two feet past that mark today, going 51-6 ¼ on his sixth and final jump. That ranks Smith at No. 8 nationally thus far and first in the Pac-12. It was the best triple jump by a Husky since 2017.

This week the Huskies will send a smaller group of jumpers, sprinters, and throwers to the Brutus Hamilton Invitational at Cal on Saturday, Apr. 6.
