SEATTLE –

For the third week in a row, a group of Huskies are bound for California. This week that group is all distance and mid-distance runners, and the destination is the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa. Friday and Saturday will see nearly twenty Huskies in action from 800-meters up to 5,000-meters.

The distance crew was off last week after opening the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational two weeks ago.

Friday will feature a few of the women competing in the 800-meters, and just one Husky, Saskia Lloyd, scheduled to run a 5k. The women’s invite heats of the 800-meters start at 1:50 p.m. Friday and will include Samantha Friborg, Wilma Nielsen, and Marlena Preigh. Lloyd will run the 5k at 6:40 p.m.

Saturday will be all about the 1,500-meters. Six women and all 11 men making the trip are entered in the 1,500-meter fields, including 2022 NCAA Champion Joe Waskom, 2023 NCAA Champion Nathan Green, and 2023-24 mile NCAA Champion Luke Houser.

The 1,500-meter invitational sections will begin at 6:40 p.m. Saturday evening.
