Tigers Split Weekend, Finish Tom Jones Invitational and Duke Invitational
GAINESVILLE, Fla./DURHAM, N.C. – The Clemson Tigers wrapped up a full weekend of events as the team competed in the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational and the Duke Invitational. Multiple Tigers placed their names on the all-time list and Marie Forbes set the new school record in the women’s discus throw.
With a throw of 58.31, Forbes broke the previous record, which she also held, at 56.93. Forbes holds the school record in two different events for Clemson as she also holds the top performance in the indoor weight throw.
Freshman Gladys Chepngetich added her name to the top-10 list in two different events as the ACC Indoor Freshman of the Year continues to impress in the outdoor season.

Tom Jones Memorial Invitational:
- In the women’s discus, Marie Forbes broke and set the new school record as she threw 58.31 to break the previous record, which was slo held by Forbes, of 56.93
- In the women’s 400 meters, Ken’Naria Gadson added her name to Clemson’s all-time list as she completed the event with a time of 56.68 which places her No. 6 on the list
- In the men’s shot put, Courtney Lawrence improved his No. 2 spot as he threw 19.11 to remain the second best throw in Clemson history. Lawrence has held and improved the No. 2 spot for the last three outdoor meets
- In the women’s 1500, Gladys Chepngetich ran 4:15.67 to secure third-place in the event and be named No. 4 all-time on Clemson’s top 10 list in that event
- In the women’s discus, Karlien Botha added her name to the top 10 list as she threw 45.82 to take the No. 10 spot
- In the women’s 800 meter, Gladys Chepngetich crossed the line at 2:00.53 to secure second-place and the No. 2 spot on the all-time list for Clemson
- In the men’s hammer throw, Carlito Jones recorded a new personal best as he threw 53.57 while Daniel Cope threw his best mark of the season with 61.58
- In the men’s 110 meter hurdles, Nate Rayan tabbed a new personal best in the event as he crossed the line at 13.97 to secure first-place
