Clemson Earns Seven First-Place Finishes, Tigers Shine at USC Outdoor Open – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers officially completed the USC Outdoor Open in Columbia as the team recorded seven first-place finishes across a variety of events and several Tigers earned new personal bests. 

In total, the Tigers recorded top-finishes in the men’s and women’s 800, men’s 1500, men’s 3000 meter steeplechase, women’s high jump, women’s long jump and the women’s 4×400 relay. 

Meet Highlights:

  • Nia Christie recorded a first-place in the women’s high jump as she cleared 1.72
  • In the men’s 3000 meter steeplechase, Ryan Sula crossed the line first with a time of 10:00.05
  • Caroline Johnston secured a first-place finish in the women’s long jump as she jumped 6.05
  • In the men’s 1500 meters, Brandon Garcia crossed the line at 3:54.59 to tab first-place in the event
  • Jessica McLean recorded a first-place finish in the women’s 800 meters as she crossed the line at 2:07.10. Following McLean, Kayan Green and Brynne Sumner secured second and third place in the event. 
  • In the men’s 800 meters, Brian Kweyei earned a first-place finish as he crossed the line at 1:50.38 
  • Ken’Naria Gadson added her name to Clemson’s all-time list as she ran an incredible 51.59 in the women’s 400 meters to move into the No. 2 all-time spot
  • Oneka Wilson’s time of 13.13 in the women’s 100 meter hurdles moved her into the No. 9 all-time spot for Clemson 
  • In the women’s pole vault, Anna Long cleared 3.90m which ties her for No. 9 on Clemson’s all-time performance list 

Up next, the Tigers will compete in Penn Relays starting Thursday, April 25 and going through Saturday, April 27. The meet will mark the last competition for Clemson before the ACC Outdoor Championships in Atlanta.
