Terps Close Out Penn Relays


PHILADELPHIA, PA – More all-time records and great field performances were met in the final day of Penn Relays. The 4x800m team kept the heat going for the Terps with the women and men both earning spots in the  All-Time record book. 

Highlights

  • Eric Albright, Max Worley, Justin DePinto, and Matt De Haas competed in the men’s 4×800 and ran a time of 7:35.91. The performance ranks fourth all-time at Maryland. 
  • Emma Pegg, Anna Coffin, Katie Turk, and Kami Joi Hickson competed in the 4×800 finishing in 8:50.19. Their time is good for a fifth all-time spot in the record books. 
  • Kayla Thorpe finished second in the championship javelin with a throw of 50.86m
  • Jayla Bynum set a season best in the shot put throwing 15.71m. She placed fourth in the Championship division. 
  • Jeff Kline was back in the circle for the men’s shot put and threw 17.76m. He placed fifth in the championship. 
  • Tolulope Akinduro competed in the women’s triple jump and finished with a mark of 12.08m finishing ninth in the championship.
  • Morgan Graham returned to the discus circle and threw a 50.06m.
  • Rhys Allen also competed in men’s discus and threw 51.49m. 

Coach’s Comments:

“The Penn Relays are a prestigious event that hold a lot of meaning for the University and our team to compete on this stage. Maryland history runs deep in the tradition of Penn Relays weekend and I’m glad our athletes were able to add to the history books this weekend.”

Next Up: The Terps will be back home next weekend for the Kehoe Twilight Meet on May 3rd, which will also be Maryland Track and Field’s Senior Day.
