MADISON, Wis – The Wisconsin men’s track and field team hosts the Badger Challenge on Friday, May 3, featuring over 30 Badger athletes. Field events begin at 1:00 p.m., while track events start at 3:20 p.m. UW will compete against UNI, Illinois State and Marquette in the final meet before 2024 Big Ten Outdoor Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Admission is free. Spectator parking is also available for $5 in the following lots: 60, 76 (ramp). If both of those lots are at capacity lot 67 (ramp) is also available as space allows at the hourly rate – pull a ticket upon entry. Lot 60 is free after 4:30 pm.
Here are five things to know for the weekend.
1. DISTANCE STARS ARE OUT: The stars will align on the track as UW’s top distance runners get set to compete. Junior Adam Spencer will make his first appearance since winning the 2024 Australian Athletics Championship in the 1500 meters in 3 minutes, 37.68. He’ll compete in Friday’s 1500 meters at 5:00 p.m alongside Andrew Casey and Pierce Seigne, among others.
Another Australian, Jackson Sharp, will be another big name to return to the track. He competed in the 5000 meters at the Australian Athletics Championships, finishing third at 13:39.82. Sharp will run in the 3000 meters at 3:20 p.m.
2. SPRINTS GROUP READY TO DOMINATE, AGAIN: The sprints/hurdles group of Giovanni Wearing, Jalen Williams, Elliot Harris and Sam Amusan will all compete in select events Friday. Wearing has won the 110-meter hurdles three times this season, including at last weekend’s Texas Invitational, where he took the race with a season-best time of 13.55 seconds. Williams has won the 400 meters twice this season, including a season-best of 48.02 at the Cerritos Invitational three weeks ago. The 400 meters will start at 4:50 p.m. Elliot Harris will join Williams in the 400 meters after setting a personal best last weekend. He finished eighth in the Texas Invitational race at 47.32. Finally, Amusan will make his 2024 outdoor debut in the 100-meter dash at 4:35 p.m. He last ran the race at the 2023 Big Ten Outdoor Championships, setting a personal best of 10.61.
