Ford Named SEC Women’s Co-Runner of the Week – University of South Carolina Athletics

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 30, 2024) – Following yet another successful weekend on the track, freshman phenom JaMeesia Ford was named SEC Women’s Co-Runner of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Ford won all four events that she competed in at the Charlotte Invitational, accounting for 40 of the team’s 104 points on Saturday. Ford took home the crown in the 100m and the 200m, setting personal bests in both events. The North Carolina native clocked 11.13 in the 100m for the fifth fastest 100m in program history, while also ranking 12th in the NCAA and ninth in the East Region. She set a new program record in the 200m when she ran 22.21, setting a new NCAA leading time in the 200m sprint. Ford was also the anchor leg of the 4x100m relay that clocked 43.61 for a new Irwin Belk Track facility record. The Bowerman candidate then capped off her weekend as the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay, running 3:30.16 for the win.

Ford and the rest of the squad will take this weekend to prepare for the upcoming 2024 SEC Outdoor Championship that will be held Thursday, May 9 – Saturday, May 11 in Gainesville, Fla.
