BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday that 13 members of the Tennessee track & field program were recognized as outdoor All-SEC honorees. The league awards all-conference accolades for each of its medalists at the SEC Championships, with individual and relay champions earning First Team acclaim while second- and third-place finishers earned Second Team recognition.
The Lady Vol relay squads each took home First Team All-SEC honors after winning a pair of titles last week at the SEC Outdoor Championships. Jacious Sears, Dennisha Page, DaJour Miles and Joella Lloyd improved UT’s collegiate lead and school record in the 4×100-meter relay with a winning time of 42.42 seconds, while Javonya Valcourt, Kyla Robinson-Hubbard, Miles and Brianna White closed out the meet with a program-best 3:24.44 in the 4×400-meter relay – establishing the top time in the country and a new school record by more than three seconds.
Tennessee became the first school to sweep the women’s relay titles at the SEC Outdoor Championships since 2014. UT’s 4×100-meter crown was its first since 1984, while the Lady Vols’ 4×400-meter championship was its first since 1987. Both marks set this past weekend rank UT as the seventh-fastest school in NCAA history in the two relay events.
The Big Orange had six athletes honored as Second Team All-SEC recipients. Rasheeme Griffith and Ja’Kwan Hale were recognized for their efforts in the 400-meter hurdles final, finishing second and third with times of 49.24 and 49.64, respectively. T’Mars McCallum also reeled in his first career all-conference accolade after taking third in the 100-meter final with a mark of 10.03 seconds.
UT’s distance squad secured three bronze medals at the conference meet to earn all-conference laurels from the league office. Dalton Hengst capped his six-year SEC career with a third-place finish in the men’s 1,500-meter, while Yaseen Abdalla and Emily Covert each secured bronze in the 10,000-meter competitions.
