Badgers to send 25 to NCAA West First Round

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin track and field program will send 25 student-athletes to the NCAA West First Round on May 22-25 at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

UW will have 13 men compete on Wednesday, May 22, and Friday, May 24, while the 12 UW women will compete in events on Thursday, May 23, and Saturday, May 25.

The entire competition will stream live on ESPN+.

The top-12 finishers in each event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 5-8, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. 

The Badgers have four athletes who are ranked in the top 12 of their respective events for the NCAA West First Round.

– Kiley Robbins – Women’s 100 Meters (11)
– Gio Wearing – Men’s 110 Hurdles (9)
– Logan Measner – Men’s Steeplechase (8)
– Jason Swarens – Men’s Shot Put (1)

In addition, a pair of 2023 NCAA Outdoor All-Americans will compete at the NCAA West First Round. Adam Spencer, who finished third in the 1500 meters last year, will toe the line in the event in Arkansas next week, while Jackson Sharp, the fourth-place finisher in the 5000 meters at last year’s NCAA meet, will compete in both the 1500 and 5000 meters at the NCAA West First Round.
