Sun Devil Track & Field Qualifies Seven Individuals, One Relay to NCAA Championships


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Track Town bound!

Led by Adriana Tatum, Sun Devil Track & Field qualified seven individuals and one relay to the NCAA Championships while competing at the NCAA West Regionals at the John McDonnell Field at the University of Arkansas from May 22-25.

The Sun Devils are set to compete in nine separate events at the NCAA Championships, held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. It’s the fourth consecutive season the Sun Devils have qualified 11 to the national championships.

Tatum punched her ticket to the national championships twice on Sunday, qualifying in both the 100m (11.01) and 200m (22.36), both new personal-best times under all conditions.

The Sun Devils will send veterans to NCAAs like Tatum, Justin Robinson, Dayton Carlson, but also newcomers in Brandon Lloyd, Alexandria Johnson, Ines Lopez and Saira Prince.

The Men’s 4×400 is the lone Sun Devil relay heading to Eugene, as Jayden DavisKaleb SimpsonNicholas RameyGamali Felix clinched a spot on Friday evening with their time of 3:02.42, the fifth-best time posted. The reigning Pac-12 Champion relay will now contend for an Outdoor national title in a few weeks.

Kaleb Simpson ran a 10.33 (17th) in the first round, placing within the top-three of his heat and qualifying for Friday’s 100m quarterfinals.

Justin Robinson ran a 45.81 (14th) in the first round, placing within the top-three of his heat and qualifying for Friday’s 400m quarterfinals.

Jayden Davis ran a 45.63 (10th) in the first round, placing within the top-three of his heat and qualifying for Friday’s 400m quarterfinals.

Gamali Felix ran a 45.90 (17th) in the first round, placing within the top-24 and qualifying for Friday’s 400m quarterfinals.
