Baldwin Named Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Adding to his extensive resume and growing award collection, Michigan State men’s track & field graduate student Heath Baldwin was named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year.

Baldwin, who hails from Kalamazoo, Michigan, was also named Indoor Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year in March after finishing as the runner-up in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

At the Mt. SAC Relays, Baldwin broke the Big Ten Conference decathlon record with 8,470 points and shattered his own MSU school record by 386 points, previously set at the 2023 Mt. SAC Relays. He also moved up to seventh on the all-time collegiate chart.

Later in the season, Baldwin finished in the top-6 in three different field events at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships.

At the NCAA East First Round in May, Baldwin broke the school record in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.71, knocking off Will Agodu’s 2019 time of 13.75.

Baldwin now owns five school records, all broken this year: 110m hurdles, 60m hurdles, javelin, the heptathlon and the decathlon. Baldwin ties All-American Morgan Beadlescomb (2018-22) for the most individual program records at five.

Baldwin is currently preparing for the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon from June 21-30.
