The Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) will present All-State honors to athletes at a ceremony that will take place on Thursday, June 20th, at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. The ceremonies will also include honors to Athletes of the Year, Teams of the Year, Coaches of the Year, Official of the Year and the Distinguished Service Award.
To qualify for the All State honor, the athlete must either (1) Win an event in a Class Championship, Open Championship, Heptathlon, Decathlon, Steeplechase, or Hammer Throw or (2) Score 16 or more points in a Class Championship or Open Championship. (Points earned are from a single meet) Athletes competing on relays will earn the following points towards All-State for their participation on a placing relay team: 2nd place-6, 3rd place-5, 4th place-4,5th place-3, 6th place- 2, 7th place-1, 8th place-1 or (3) Earn an All-New England by finishing in the Top 6 in an individual event at the New England Championships.
Athletes who win the State Open events and the winners of the Specialty Event Championships (Heptathlon, Decathlon, Steeplechase, and Hammer Throw) will be named to the Gold Star All-State Team.
The following athletes are also being honored as Athletes of the Year for Outdoor Track & Field:
CHSCA Girls’ Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year – Katie Bohlke, Newington High School
CHSCA Boys’ Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year – Samuel Forte, Xavier High School
CHSCA and M-F Athletic Boys’ Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year- Chris Amy, NFA High School
CHSCA and M-F Athletic Girls’ Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year- Anna Siciliano, Hall High School
The Teams of the Year are:
CHSCA Outdoor Track and Field Girls’ Team of the Year – Bloomfield High School
CHSCA Outdoor Track and Field Boys’ Team of the Year – Windsor High School
Further awards include:
CHSCA Outdoor Track & Field Girls’ Coach of the Year – Kelvin Kearse, Windsor High School
CHSCA Outdoor Track & Field Boys’ Coach of the Year – Richard Gogan, Parish Hill High School
CHSCA Outdoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year – Michael Lee, Hamden High School
CHSCA Bill Mongovan Outdoor Track & Field Official of the Year – Eugene Waring
CHSCA and Northeast Sports Timing Lindy Remigino Distinguished Service Award – Bill Baron
