Wilbourn Tabbed 2024 ACC Women’s Outdoor Coach of the Year


DURHAM – For the second consecutive year, and third time in the last four seasons, Duke Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Shawn Wilbourn was tabbed the ACC Women’s Outdoor Coach of the Year.

Wilbourn, who wrapped up his fourth season at the helm of the Duke track and field program, guided the Blue Devil women to their second straight ACC Outdoor Championship and third in the last four seasons as Duke became the first ACC women’s team to win back-to-back outright outdoor titles since the league expanded to 15 teams. Overall, the Blue Devil women totaled 133 total points, captured five gold medals and earned 25 All-ACC accolades.

Additionally, under his leadership, the Duke women featured 28 entries at the NCAA East Regional, which was tied for the fifth-most nationally. Four of those individuals advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships across five different events with three earning USTFCCCA All-America honors. The Blue Devil women also made their mark in the Duke history books setting 22 top-five program marks and four school records.
