Four Blue Devils to Compete at 2024 Paris Olympics

DURHAM – Duke track and field will be represented on the world stage this summer as four Blue Devils get set to compete at Stade de France in Saint Denis in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Blue Devils will feature an even split with two men – Simen Guttormsen and Daniel Golubovic (Australia) – and two women – Lauren Hoffman and Maddy Price – competing for their respective countries.

Price, a gifted sprinter and 2018 Duke graduate who remains the program record holder in the indoor 4x200m relay and 4x400m relay and the outdoor 4x200m relay events while holding other top-five program marks, will represent her home country in the women’s 4x400m relay and provisional 400m. She looks to help Team Canada improve on its fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics, where the team narrowly missed a medal by 0.6 seconds. This marks Price’s second career nod to the Canadian National Team after being selected as part of the 4x400m relay team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Hoffman will make her Olympic debut when she takes the track to compete for the Philippines in the 400m hurdles. Her premier event during her time as a Blue Devil, Hoffman owns the Duke school record in the event and captured USTFCCCA All-America First Team honors during the 2022 outdoor campaign.

Golubovic and Guttormsen will also be competing in the Olympics for the first time. Representing Norway, Guttormsen, a recent Duke graduate, looks to keep his phenomenal season going in the men’s pole vault. In his lone season with the Blue Devils, Guttormsen won the ACC Outdoor crown behind a program-record clearance of 5.65 meters, then went on to take third place and earn USTFCCCA All-America First Team honors.

Golubovic also made an immediate impact in his lone season in Durham (2017) as he captured the ACC decathlon title at the ACC Outdoor Championships, totaled 7,717 points in the decathlon at the USATF Championships – No. 2 in Duke history, and earned USTFCCCA All-America Second Team with an 11th place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The Olympic track and field competition begins in Paris Aug. 1 and concludes Aug. 11.
