Gators Collect Multiple USTFCCCA Academic Honors


The 2024 Men’s Outdoor National Champions take home USTFCCCA’s Scholar Team of the Year Award, Valby claims Indoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year, and 18 Gators were named to the DI All-Academic Teams.

 

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators collected multiple USTFCCCA All-Academic honors on Monday. Florida is the only school to boast both a scholar Team of the Year and scholar Athlete of the Year.
 
The Men’s Outdoor Team that took home the NCAA Outdoor Team Championship for a third straight year has now collected the USTFCCCA Scholar Team of the Year Award for the second straight season. The Gators, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.23, bring home their fifth Scholar Team of the Year award in program history, all of which were earned under Head coach Mike Holloway.
 
Parker Valby was named the DI Women’s Indoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year, The first Gator track athlete to take home the award. Valby joins Jasmine Moore (Indoor Field SAOY, ’22) as the only Gators to take home one of USTFCCCA’s individual academic honors. Valby, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5, won both the 3000 meters and 5000 meters at the 2024 NCAA DI Indoor Track & Field Championships, en route to being named SEC Female Athlete of the Year.
 
Florida also saw 18 athletes named to USTFCCCA 2024 All-Academic teams. The criteria to qualify for the DI All-Academic teams are as follows:

  • Academic qualification – minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, Must have completed at least two (2) semesters or three (3) quarters at the nominating institution.
  • Athletic qualification – For the indoor season, must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field. For the outdoor season, must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I.
