Vinco – News – A fantastic evening of athletics ahead as star studded line up expected for British Milers Club Record Breaker

Vinco - News - British Milers Club Record Breaker

Herne Hill Harries host the British Milers Club Record Breaker – Tooting Bec and with prize money up for grabs (£600 for first, £300 for 2nd, £100 for third, £100 for the leading Brit and £50 for the leading U20 athlete) the entry lists are stacked with talent ahead of what promises to be a thriller.

The men’s 800m features 5 athletes who have run under 1:46 (Thomas Randolph, Tiarnan Crorken, Adam Spencer, Justin Davies, Jack Higgins) and a further 19 under 1:50. The stand out for many is sure to be Spencer of Australia who races for the final time before he heads to the Paris Olympics.

The women’s 800m contains strong domestic prowess with 9 sub 2:02 runners (Katie Snowden, Kaela Edwards, Khahisa Mhlanga, Ellie Sanford, Jenna Bromell, Gemma Finch, Louise Shanahan, Grace Vans Agnew). Snowdon will lead the British interest after her 8th-placed finish in the World 1500m Final last summer.

The men’s 1500m is set to be lightning fast with 10 athletes under 3:36 (Samuel Tanner, Sean McGorty, Adam Fogg, Mohad Sheik Ali, Piers Copeland, Archie Davis, Nick Griggs, Morgan Beadlescomb, Joe Wigfield, Henry McLuckie) and 29 athletes quicker than 3:40. Fresh off the back of a PB at the London Diamond League over 3,000m (7:36.59), 19-year-old Griggs will receive attention as he competes on British soil again after narrowly missing Olympic selection. Another athlete of note is Fogg. The Coventry Godiva Harrier comes into the competition off the back of a 7th placed finish in the Emsley Carr Mile.

The women’s 1500 is just as exciting 6 athletes who have runner under 4:15 (Cari Hughes, Kate Axford, Lauren Church, Alexa Parker, Taryn Rawlings, Amy O’Donoghue). London-based Axford will be the home favourite after her 4th placed finish at the UK Athletics Championships over 3,000m.

The 3,000ms are equally strong with 14 men quicker that 8:15 and 10 women who’ve run sub-9:30, including Welsh duo James Heneghan and Jenny Nesbitt.
