Arizona Track and Field Adds New Assistant Coach Dino Dodig

TUCSON, Ariz. – Dino Dodig joins the Arizona Track and Field program as an assistant coach in the 2024-25 season. Dodig takes over as the program’s horizontal jumps and multis coach with an array of experiences in the world of track and field.

Prior to Arizona, Dodig served as a coach at Alvernia University. Before his tenure, Alvernia did not have any All-Americans in the history of their program. However, in just two seasons, Dodig helped coach 4x All-American NCAA Finalists (2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 6th), 12x Top Three Conference Finishers, 9x School Records, 4x Conference Records, and 4x Conference Championship Records.

Dodig has worked extensively as an assistant coach with Goran Obradovic, a world-famous coach for horizontal jumps from Serbia. Obradovic is widely known in the world of track and field, operating a professional track and field training group in Serbia. He was Dodig’s first coach and has been a mentor to him since 2005. One of Obradovic’s most notable athletes is Ivana Spanovic, who is one of the most decorated long jumpers in the history of the event: 3x World Championship Gold, 1x World Championship Silver, 3x World Championship Bronze, 5x European Championship Gold, 1x European Championship Silver, 1x European Championship Bronze, 1x Olympic Games Bronze, and 5x Olympic Appearances.

In his personal career, Dodig was a 4x National Champion in Serbia. During his collegiate career at Washington State University, he broke the team’s freshman record and school record in the indoor heptathlon. He also appeared in the 2012 World Junior Championship in Barcelona, 2013 European U23 Championship in Tampere, and 2015 European U23 Championship in Tallinn. He graduated from Washington State with a bachelor’s degree in human development and a minor in psychology.

Dodig has been involved with track and field since he was four years old, which is a result of having a mother who is a professional coach in Serbia for the sport. From a very early age, he grew up around professional and Olympic athletes and coaches. He was eventually selected to work with Coach Goran Obradovic, whose mentorship evolved from a coach-athlete relationship.

“We use a very detailed, and systematic approach for planning and programming the training for horizontal jumps and multi events,” said Coach Dodig. “The most important…
