BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – On Friday, the Tennessee men’s and women’s cross country squads will compete in the Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships in Bryan-College Station. Running at Watts Cross Country Course, the women’s 6k race will start at 10:08 a.m. ET, with the men’s 8k race beginning at 10:50 a.m.
The championships will be televised on SEC Network – coverage begins at 10 a.m. – with a streaming link available HERE. Official timing will be provided by Flash Results and can be accessed by following this LINK.
Last season, the Vols and Lady Vols each finished third in the championships – marking the first time both squads had accomplished the feat since 2001.
The Lady Vols return four of their SEC scorers from a year ago – Ashley Jones, Rachel Sutliff, Jillian Candelino and Caroline Lyerly – with Msgana Araya, Andie-Marie Jones, Rebecca O’Keefe, Summer Schuster, Jaci Sievers and Callie Tucker bolstering the squad for Friday’s race.
Ashley Jones and Sutliff garnered All-SEC Second Team honors in 2023, while Candelino and Lyerly earned All-SEC Freshman Team accolades.
The men’s team will look different from last season’s race as Gabriel Sanchez is the only returning scorer for the Vols. Sanchez placed eighth at the conference meet last season, garnering All-SEC Second Team recognition.
Joining him this weekend are Canaan Anderson, Hudson Betts, Brody Chapman, Yonas Haile, Zach Jaeger, Aaron Jones, Christopher Middleton-Pearson, Thomas Rice and Pavel Vinduska.
Middleton-Pearson has had a strong season for UT, finishing top five in two of three regular-season races. In a talented race at the Gans Creek Classic, he placed 16th overall with an 8K personal best time of 23:33.8.
