SEATTLE – Just two weeks removed from the end of the cross country season and it’s time to trade turf for track. The first indoor track meet of the season is this Saturday for a group of ten Husky distance runners, as they head to Boston for the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.

The meet, at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, is notorious for producing many of the qualifiers for the NCAA Indoor Championships as it comes on the heels of the end of cross country season with athletes maintaining their peaks.

The first event to feature Huskies on Saturday will be the men’s mile at 8:15 a.m. Pacific time. UW will also be competing in the men’s 1,000-meters at 10:32 a.m., the men’s and women’s 3,000-meters which start at 11:05 a.m., and the women’s 5,000-meters at 1:10 p.m.

Out of the ten Huskies traveling, four will be making their Husky debuts. For the men, transfers Kyle Reinheimer and Justin O’Toole will run the 1k and freshman Martin Barco will open up with a mile run. Senior transfer Maggie Liebich will debut for the women in the 3k.

Also launching their track seasons will be NCAA Champ Nathan Green, and Rhys Hammond, both in the men’s 3,000-meters. Along with Liebich in the women’s 3k, Amina Maatoug, Chloe Foerster, and Claire Yerby will all run that distance. Julia David-Smith will be the one Husky taking on the 5k for starters.
