Broemmel Enters Mizzou Record Books at Danville Opener

BOSTON – The University of Missouri’s Rahel Broemmel opened the team’s track and field season by running the fourth-fastest 5,000 meter indoor time at the Danville Opener on Saturday at Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center.

Broemmel, a sophomore, finished the race in 16 minutes, 9.31 seconds, good for 53rd of the 161 finishers during her first indoor track event in the Black and Gold. In program history, her time stands behind Karissa Schweizer’s 15:17.31 (Dec. 2, 2017), Megan Cunningham’s 15:53.20 (Feb. 9, 2018) and Jamie Kempfer’s 16:05.23 (Feb. 12, 2017). Broemmel most recently earned All-Southeastern Conference Second-Team honors during the 2024 cross country season.

Nicole Louw began the day for the Tigers, running in her second-ever 3000m indoor race in 9:41.8. Senior Blake Morris capped off the event in the final heat of the men’s 5000m with a 14:51.98.
