Coffee with Larry, December 10, 2024, a busy week in cross country, all eyes are focused on 45th FootLocker XC, presented by HOKA!

1. Eighty of the top high school boys and girls will seek

honors at the 45th FootLocker National Cross Country, presented by HOKA, this Saturday, December 14, 2024. Girls’ race is at 9.15 AM, Pacific time, Boy’s race is at 10 AM, Pacific Time. The race will be held in Balboa Park, in San Diego, CA.

2. At the 2024 SPAR European Athletics Cross Country Championships, held in Antalya, Turkey on December 8, 2024.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen won the Men’s senior race, and Nadia Battocletti won the Women’s senior race. Spain took the Men’s team senior race and Italy took the women’s senior race.

3. Great Britain topped the medal table with 12 (six gold), Italy with 5, and Spain and Norway with 3 each.

4. USATF Convention picked new President. Curt Claussen, former Olympic race walker took the seat, 56 percent of vote, and MIke Conley at 43 percent of the vote.

5. Gabby Thomas won the JJK Award and Grant Holloway won the Jesse Owens award at USATF, the most prestigious awards in track & field in USATF.

6. CIM, the California International Marathon, is one of the finest marathons in the world. It is always in early December and is one of the finest events, focused on performance near Sacramento, CA. A new course record of 2:07:35 by Tsegay Wildibanos, breaking Jerry Lawson’s 31 year record of 2:10:27. C.J. Albertson, who ran his fifth marathon of year at CIM, finished second in 2:10:06, also breaking Jerry’s record!

7. Calli Hauger-Thackeray won the CIM women’s race, outkicking Jackie Gaughin, Thackery ran 2:24:28 to Gaughin’s 2:24:40, both under Paige Stoner’s 2:26:20 old CR.

8. RunBlogRun will be at the 45th FootLocker National Cross Country Champs, presented by HOKA, on Saturday, Dec. 14.
