SEATTLE – Following the first week of the indoor track & field season, Husky standout Nathan Green has earned Washington’s first ever Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award. Green ran the fastest 3,000-meters time in Big Ten Conference history last Saturday in Boston, and broke the UW School Record.
Â
Green (Boise, Idaho) is coming off the best cross country season of his career, where he led UW at the NCAA Championships with a 54th-place finish that was notable for the fact that Green ran the fastest final 1,000-meters of any man in the field, passing 38 runners.
Â
Moving onto the track just two weeks after cross country nationals, Green rolled to a time of 7:40.09 at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at the Boston University indoor track. That broke the Husky school record and ranks 13th in NCAA history, as well as ranking as the fastest time in Big Ten history.
Â
Green now owns the Husky school records at 800-meters, 1,000-meters, 1,500-meters, and 3,000-meters.
