CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Four teams around the Atlantic Coast Conference will continue their indoor track & field seasons as the calendar flips to 2025. Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville and Miami will be competing in three meets this weekend, beginning on Friday, January 10.
Clemson will host the Clemson Invitational on Saturday, January 11. The Clemson Invitational will welcome Florida State and Georgia Tech and will be the Tigers’ second of five home meets this season. Miami will also head to the Palmetto State, but will travel to the state capital of Columbia to compete in the Gamecock Opener, hosted by South Carolina.
Louisville will remain in the Derby City for the two-day Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational, beginning on Friday and hosted by in-state rival Kentucky. Several other schools from Power Four conferences will be joining the Cardinals in Louisville, including Cincinnati, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Purdue and UCF.
Two ACC records fell on the opening week of the season. North Carolina’s Ethan Strand broke the NCAA and ACC records in the men’s 3,000-meter run on the opening weekend, clocking a time of 7:30.15 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston. North Carolina’s Parker Wolfe and Virginia’s Gary Martin also ran below the previous NCAA-best time. Additionally, Stanford’s Amy Bunnage broke the ACC record in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 15:00.75 in Stanford’s first meet as an ACC member. Like Strand, Bunnage broke the record at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.
