ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan State track & field returned to action with a strong showing at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday.

Track Events
The Spartans started strong with the women’s 60m dash with Amani Nuels taking third with a time of 7.57. In the men’s 60m, Cameron Cheetam also finished third with a personal-best time of 6.78. Michigan State continued reaching the podium with another third-place finish from Logan Allen in the 60m hurdles (8.06).
Noah Sage led the way for the Spartan men with a first-place finish in the 600m, crossing the line in 1:18.99. Alex Yon was the next MSU runner to finish, taking fifth in 1:22.87. In the men’s 400m, Henry Shaieb was second overall and first among collegiate runners with a personal-best time of 49.39.
In the men’s 300m, Terrance Muex finished third with a time of 34.24, which was just shy of his personal-best time of 34.23. In the women’s 300m, Elizabeth Anderson just finished off the podium with a fourth-place finish with a time of 40.35.
In the men’s 800m, Timothy Cherry was one of three runners to topple the meet record. He finished second with a time of 1:50.57. Owen Gilbert was fourth (1:55.39), while Levi Maier took fifth (1:56.03).
Field Events
Michigan State captured its first win in the women’s weight throw. Veteran Valadian Pallett took first place with a best throw of 19.44m. Janan Khalil finished second (17.60m), while Eriana Hubbard was fourth (16.08m).
Michigan State continued its success in the men’s weight throw, finishing 4-6. Xavier Griffiths was fourth (18.35m). Colby Morlock was fifth with a new personal best (18.23), while Joshus DeVries was sixth (17.65m).
In the shot put, the Spartans had a pair of fourth-place finishes. On the women’s side, Rylan Finstrom had a personal best throw of 14.21m. In the men’s shot put, Dalton DeBeau  had a best throw of 14.58m.
Following the Wolverine Invitational, the Spartans will travel back to Ann Arbor next weekend for the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Jan. 18.
