Gamecock Relays Close Corky Classic in Style – University of South Carolina Athletics

LUBBOCK, Texas (Jan. 18, 2025) – South Carolina Track & Field concluded the 2025 Corky Classic on Saturday afternoon, competing in a total of eight events on the day.

The men’s and women’s 4×400 meter relays shined for South Carolina in the closing day, each running season bests and the fourth best mark in the NCAA this season.

The women’s relay of Zaya Akins, Cynteria James, Imani Rivas and JaMeesia Ford took home a runner-up finish with a time of 3:32.29. The men’s relay closed the competition with a fourth-place finish as Josiah Wrice, Devan Crumpton, Anthony Greenhow and Jasauna Dennis crossed the line at 3:07.02.

A pair of Gamecocks also registered indoor collegiate personal bests on Saturday as Nate Figgers tied his collegiate indoor best in the high jump (2.12m/6-11.5) and Rivas set a new indoor personal best in the women’s 200 meter with a time of 24.21.

South Carolina will return to the Lone Star State for another two-day meet, this time competing at the Ted Nelson Invite in College Station, Texas. Texas A&M will play host to the meet as South Carolina will compete at the site of the 2025 SEC Indoor Championship, Fasken Indoor Track & Field. The Ted Nelson Invite will begin on Friday, Jan. 24 and conclude on Saturday, Jan. 25.
