scottishathletics can confirm we have been forced to cancel the 4J Senior and U17 Championships this weekend.
The event was due to take place at the Emirates Arena on Saturday.
With red weather warnings in place on Friday, venue owners Glasgow Life have take the decision to close throughout that time.
As a consequence, the de-rig of a Celtic Connections event in the Emirates on Thursday cannot happen until Saturday. Unfortunately, there is no time slot available to undertake the set-up work for the Senior and U17 Champs.
The 4J SUPERteams due to take place on Sunday (January 26) WILL happen as planned with around 400 young athletes getting ready to compete in that event (many in their first competition).
We will look to re-schedule the 4J Senior and U17 Champs later this Indoor Season.
scottishathletics deeply regrets the belated nature of the change of plans and we apologise and commiserate with many folk who have been making travel plans.
It is extremely rare for us to postpone national championship events but the circumstances this time leave us with no option.

On Sunday, we expect almost 400 of the youngest athletes in our sport to descend on the Emirates with more than clubs represented.
This is a development event for the U12s as they work in teams to learn our spot and experience the enjoyment of competing for the first time in a national context
Good luck to all our young athletes – enjoy!
