NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt track and field hits the road for the first time this season when it travels to Bryan-College Station, Texas, for Texas A&M’s Ted Nelson Invitational at the R.A. “Murray” Fasken ‘38 Indoor Track.
Competing teams include Air Force, Houston, Northern Colorado, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, UNLV, UT-Arlington, UT-San Antonio and SEC competitors including Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.
Dore notes
- The Commodores hosted almost 40 teams in Nashville for the Vanderbilt Invitational Jan. 17-18
- Freshmen Devyn Parham and Kayleigh Stargell competed in their first collegiate pentathlons
- Parham won the multi with a score of 3,621, ranked eighth in school history, and recorded personal bests in the shot put (10.41m), long jump (5.41m) and 800 meters (2:25.55)
- Parham was the second overall, top collegiate finisher in the 60-meter hurdles (8.65) behind 60mH Lithuanian national record holder and Vandy alumna Beatrice Juskeviciute (8.54)
- Five Commodores, Gigi Clifford, Mackenzie Culpepper, Cameron Fawcett, Elsa Steer and Ellie Wolski recorded PRs of three seconds or more in the mile
- Julia Rosenberg was the runner-up in the mile with a time of 4:41.14, which is currently the sixth-ranked time in the SEC and the No. 35 time in the NCAA
- Claire Petersen was the 12th overall and top freshman finisher in the mile with a time of 4:51.10
- Petersen is the third-ranked freshman in the conference in the mile
- Tina Benzinger (7.60) and Brenay Williams (7.73) recorded 60-meter times ranking in the program’s all-time top 10
- Allyria McBride clocked 24.30 seconds in the 200 meters, which is the No. 4 time in school history
- Active student-athletes hold three indoor school records and have registered 28 marks ranking in the program all-time top 10
