With the final two weeks prior to the championship part of the season upon us, MySportsResults congratulates the HOKA CT Indoor T&F Athletes in Week 5 athletes selected by our voters in the expanded categories.
The top vote recipients of the 340 votes cast were Naugatuck’s Lauren Kropo (Track) [182 votes], Payton Sirdine of Bloomfield (Field) [145 votes], Windsor’s 55m Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Javonni Reynolds, Haydn Spaulding, Tyrell Young, Marvin Escalera (Track) [205 votes] and Patrick Lynch of Lyme-Old Lyme (Field) [125 votes]. In addition to the recognition each weekly award recipient will receive a commemorative t-shirt in appreciation of their performance.
At the SCC Coaches Invite last Saturday at Floyd Little Athletic Facility, New Haven, Lauren Kropo continued her dominating season. She retook over the lead in the 55m by running a PR of 7.07 and became the 5th fastest girl all time, setting the meet record in the process. This is setting up a real showdown in the straightaway event between the Naugatuck junior and Manchester junior Samiya Eady who is also undefeated in the event and previously held the state lead at 7.13.

The Centurians ran 31.71 seconds in 2010 to finish 12th at Nationals. Windsor won the relay on Saturday in 31.94 to just miss the record and become the 2nd fastest CT team in the event. With seven weeks to improve, their team of Javonni Reynolds, Haydn Spaulding, Tyrell Young and Marvin Escalera have an excellent shot at this record. With three sophomores on the team and an outstanding coaching staff, they are sure to bring the record into previously unthought of territory.
In the same meet, Patrick Lynch of Lyme-Old Lyme also took over the state lead and becomes the 21st best jumper in state history, reaching a distance of 23-2.25 that furthered his PR in the event.
In the weight throw at the Providence meet, Bloomfield’s Payton Sirdine bettered her personal record by almost 2-feet with her toss of 45-6.5. Although the event was dominated as usual by the Ocean State throwers, as only a junior Sirdine held her own to…
