SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Irish indoor track and field squad put up several solid performances at their second home meet of the season in the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday.

Maya Collins, Molly Bennett, Sophie Novak, Mary Bonner Dalton, Madison Schmidt, Ore Olusi, and the 4x400m relay squad of Bennett, Reese Sanders, Ashley Fisher, and Gabriella Zeller all captured first place finishes on the women’s side. Collins had the fastest time of the 60m preliminary round (7.50) and took top honors in the final race with a 7.45. Bennett captured the 400m top spot with a 57.06. Novak was the top finisher in the 800m after turning in a personal record time of 2:07.28.

Dalton competed unattached in the 3,000m race and had more than a seven-second margin of victory with a 9:30.59. Schmidt continued her strong spring performance in the high jump with a 1.81m to take top honors. Olusi turned in a 13.69m in the shot put to capture first by more than a meter. The 4x400m combination of Bennett, Sanders, Fisher, and Zeller cruised to the win by nearly seven seconds with a 3:52.71.

Jason Marchese and the 4x400m relay combination of Marchese, Joey Zayszly, Dimitri Nicholson, and William Doyle took first place finishes on the day. Marchese posted a personal record time of 47.90 for the win in the 400m. The relay crew won by a margin of more than five seconds with a time of 3:13.31 for the Irish.

The Irish get back to action next weekend as the squad hosts the Meyo Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 31 and February 1. Additionally, some team members will make the trip to the Kansas State DeLoss Dodds Invitational over the weekend to compete.
