Timberg, O’Sullivan Shatter Pole Vault Records At The Armory


NEW YORK – The Rutgers track and field record books were rewritten for the fourth-straight weekend as pole vaulters Chloe Timberg and Kevin O’Sullivan crushed the indoor records on Friday at the Scarlet Knights Open at the New York Armory.
 
Timberg, the All-American and outdoor record holder, improved on her own indoor record with a height that leads the NCAA and ranks No. 2 all-time. She bested the previous record, clearing 4.72m (15′ 5.75″) to win the event.
 
Kevin O’Sullivan and his brother Brian have traded places at the top of the Rutgers record books for the past three weeks. The pair previously shared the indoor record on January 18, however, Brian took sole possession of the record the following weekend on January 24. Kevin then reclaimed the pole vault record on Friday, posting a height of 5.54m (18′ 2″).
 
Rutgers scored a pair of wins in the long jump championship division. Donavan Anderson won the men’s event, recording a leap of 7.59m (24′ 11″), while Kristina Tossas took first for the women, posting a distance of 6.06m (19′ 10.75″).
 
Bryce Tucker won the 600-meter in 1:19.15, Maan Patel placed first in the 3,000-meter and the Scarlet Knights earned three third-place finishes to round out the performances on the men’s side. Eric Foster Jr. finished third in the 60-meter in 8.27, while Sean Matthews took third in the 5,000-meter in 14:44.30 and Brian Butler placed third in the high jump, clearing 2.00m (6′ 6.75″).
 
On the track, the women’s squad picked up a pair of wins with Jada Ellis taking first in the 60-meter in 7.61, while Charlee Crawford took first in the 200-meter in 24.28.
 
Alicia Campbell finished second in both the shot put and weight with throws of 13.92m (45′ 8″) and 19.72m (64′ 8.5″), respectively. Paige Floriea finished second in the long jump championship, recording a jump of 5.94m (19′ 6″).
 
Aleix Willis won the triple jump with a distance of 12.14m (39′ 10″), followed by Ayotunde Folawewo in third with a jump of 11.71m (38′ 5″).
 

The Scarlet Knights will travel to Massachusetts for the Crimson Elite on the Harvard campus on Friday, Feb. 7 and the Scarlet & White Invite on the Boston University campus on Saturday, Feb. 8.
