Adrian and Stieb Break MSU School Records at Michigan Invitational


ANN ARBOR, Mich. –  Behind a pair of new school records from throwers Elle Adrian and Jessica Stieb, the Michigan State track & field team had a strong showing at the Michigan Invitational Saturday in Ann Arbor.

The Spartans captured their first victory on the track in the women’s weight throw. Adrian topped her personal best to take first place with a throw of 22.35m. It was the ninth-best throw in the NCAA this season. Adrian also broke the school record held by All-American Beth Rohl of 22.17m set in 2013. Val Pallett finished second with a throw of 20.04m.

In the women’s shot put, Stieb finished second. She set a new personal best with her first throw with a 16.87m. The throw was No. 22 in the NCAA this indoor season. Stieb also broke her own school of 16.63m set in 2024.Rylan Finstrom also set a new PR finishing sixth (14.56m).

Connor Williamson finished second in the men’s weight with a throw of 19.14m, which was his first throw of the day. Colby Morlock finished third with a personal-best throw of 18.92m, while Josh DeVries was fifth (18.61m). In the men’s shot put, Dillon Morlock won with a new PR (18.87m), while Colby Morlock was second (17.19).

On the track, Logan Allen got on the podium with a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.18. In the men’s 60m finals, Cameron Cheetam crossed the line in 6.92 to finish fourth.

In the women’s 60n hurdles, Kaia Scheffler finished fourth (8.67), while Amani Nuels was fifth in the 60m finals (7.55).

In the men’s 400m, Terrance Muex earned a season best to finish third with a time of 48.24.

Michigan State continued its strong day on the track in the men’s 600m. Noah Sage finished first with personal-best time of 1:18.86. Teammate Ben Classen took third with a season-best time of 1:22.90. In the women’s 600m.

The Michigan Invitational featured Midwestern teams, including Akron, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Michigan and Toledo.
