MADISON, Wis – The Wisconsin men’s track and field team hosts the Windy City Invite in Chicago this weekend. The Badgers will send select sprinters, hurdlers, distance runners and throwers to compete against athletes from Notre Dame, Rutgers, Indiana, Harvard and more. Events being at 1:00 p.m. CT on Friday, February 14 and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15.

1. THROWERS TAKE THE STAGE: UW throwers return to action after a strong showing last time out. Joseph White won the men’s weight throw with a toss of 70 feet, 10 ½ inches, while Jason Swarens placed third with a throw of 63-0 ¼ and Cole Hooper took fourth with a mark of 61-6 ¼. Shot put saw another victory for the Badgers, as Swarens threw 63-9 ½ to take first place, while Andrew Stone finished second at 60-11 ½
2. BLOWN AWAY: Last weekend in the Windy City, freshman Landon Gallun blew through the competition in the 60-meter dash, setting a personal record and finishing third in the finals with a time of 6.89. In the mile, Oak Park, Illinois native Liam Newhart claimed victory in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:01.34, going one-two with Archie Noakes who crossed the line at 4:01.55.
3. GOING THE DISTANCE: Distance runners are back on the track in Chicago this weekend, highlighted by Bob Liking and Adam Spencer. The duo smashed the 3000 meter and 5000 meter school records back in December, with Spencer running 7:40.38 in the former and Liking running 13:22.80 in the latter.
4. B1G MOVES: The Badgers have been making big moves in individual event Big Ten standings. Junior Jalen Williams continues his reign in the 400 meters, landing fifth with a time of 46.19. Resident Olympian Adam Spencer comes in second in the 3000 meters after an impressive run at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, breaking the school record with a time of 7:40.38. Fellow distance runners, Matan Ivri and Johnny Livingstone round out the top-10 ranking fourth and tenth respectively. The distance crew continues their dominance in the 5000 meters.
