Virginia’s Gary Martin Headlines 2024 All-ACC Academic Team for Men’s Cross Country

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia’s Gary Martin was named the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The junior headlines the 2024 All-ACC Academic Team for Men’s Cross Country, which is comprised of 126 student-athletes across 17 schools.
 
Martin won the 2024 ACC Men’s Cross Country Championship in Raleigh, North Carolina, in a championship record time of 22:17.6. The Warminster, Pennsylvania, native ran a 30:00.3 in the 10K finish in eighth place and lead the Cavaliers to the NCAA Southeast Regional title in Rock Hill, South Carolina. At the NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship, Martin chopped nearly one minute off of his 10K personal best time, clocking a 29:02.3 in Madison, Wisconsin, to finish 13th and earn All-America status.
 
This is Martin’s third appearance on the All-ACC Academic Team. Previously, Martin has also been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll twice and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team. At Virginia, Martin is double majoring in American Studies and Media Studies.
