CHICAGO – The Wisconsin men’s track and field team kicked off its weekend competition at the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational with multiple indoor top-10 records and personal bests.
On the track, Andrew Casey kicked the day off with an impressive 600 meter race, placing second with a personal best and top-10 time of 1:18.15. In the 400 meters, junior Jalen Williams earned a runner-up finish, crossing the line at 46.88. Aurora, Illinois native Patrick Hilby delivered a thrilling performance in the 800-meter invite, with a third place finish and top-10 time of 1:48.47. At the longer distances, Nick Gilles competed in the 5000 meters with a sixth place finish, crossing the line at 14:12.58.
In the throws, Joseph White had a standout performance in the weight throw invite, finishing second with a personal-best toss of 72-6 ½ (22.11). The Kenosha, Wisconsin native currently ranks 18th in the nation and broke his own fourth-best mark in Wisconsin program history. The Badgers overall dominated the event, with Jason Swarens placing fourth with a throw of 64-5 ¾ (19.65) and Cole Hooper finishing just behind in fifth with a mark of 64-3 ¾ (19.60).
In the pole vault, Hunter Cook captured a top-3 mark with a clearance of 15-11 ¾ (4.87) and was followed by Augustus Counard-Ciechanowski who finished sixth with a clearance of 15-5 ¾ (4.72).
