VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Tennessee senior Sarah Schmitt finished sixth in the nation in the women’s pole vault final on Friday at the NCAA Indoor Championships, clearing a height of 4.40m (14-5.25) on her first attempt at the bar. The mark scored three point for the Lady Vols and earned Schmitt First Team All-America acclaim in her signature event.
Schmitt’s performance was one of six to earn All-America honors for Tennessee on Friday inside the Virginia Beach Sports Center. Layla Anderson, Milan Fields, Javonya Valcourt, Myreanna Bebe and Cade Gray each placed in the top 16 in their events to receive second team recognition.
Additionally, a pair of Lady Vol hurdlers advanced to the national final of the women’s 60-meter hurdles after placing in the top eight of Friday’s prelims. Anderson was sixth with a time of 8.03, while Kiara Smith grabbed the eighth and final qualifying spot with a lifetime-best mark of 8.06.

- Javonya Valcourt secured the program’s 10th All-America honor in the women’s indoor 400-meter dash, and was the first to accomplish the feat since 2016.
- Bebe posted Tennessee’s 11th All-America accolade in the women’s 60-meter hurdles, including at least one honoree in each of the past four seasons.
- Gray secured second team All-America status in the men’s indoor pole vault, claiming the 17th All-America performance for UT in the event and first for the Vols since 2015.
