VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Following the first day of competition at the NCAA Indoor Championships, two Tigers secured spots in the finals of their respective events as Gladys Chepngetich and Oneka Wilson are set to compete in Saturday’s finals in Virginia Beach. Shantae Foreman is also scheduled to compete as the junior will represent Clemson in the women’s triple jump.
In the women’s 800 meters, Chepngetich ran 2:01.60 to finish in the top three of her heat and seventh overall. This will mark Chepngetich’s first finals appearance at indoor nationals.
Wilson shined in the women’s 60 meter hurdles as she ran the third fastest time of the day at 7.99 which is her second best personal time. The three-time ACC 60 meter hurdle champion will also make her finals debut at nationals as it will mark the first time Wilson has advanced past the preliminaries at NCAA Indoors.
After their performances today, three Tigers were named Second Team All-Americans as Judy Kosgei (mile), Aniyah Kitt (60 meters) and Brian Kweyei (800 meters) all earned the honor.
