Wildcats Add Four More Event Wins to Close Out Willie Williams Classic


TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track & Field wrapped up the two-day Willie Williams Classic on Saturday at Drachman Stadium.
 
On Friday, the Wildcats saw four event wins, 15 top-three finishes, and numerous personal bests. Youssef Koudssi won the men’s discus, Mackenna Orie won the women’s shot put, Antonia Sanchez Nunez won the women’s 400m hurdles, and McKenna Watson won the women’s 200m. Watson clocked a time of 23.10 in her 200m win which ranks second all-time in school history.
 
The Wildcats followed that up on Saturday with four more event wins and 17 additional top-three finishes. Zach Extine won the men’s 110m hurdles, Tapenisa Havea won the women’s discus, and freshman Jathiyah Muhammad won the women’s pole vault. Additionally, the men’s 4x100m team of Isaac Davis, Brian Limage, Diego Marquez, Tyson Tippett won the relay event. Extine ran a personal best time of 13.51 in his 110m hurdles win, which is second all-time in school history. Overall, the Wildcats saw multiple top 10 all-time performances in school history across the two days of competition.
 
“The Willie Williams Classic was a great competition for us,” said the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Fred Harvey. “We competed at a high level and had a lot of personal bests and top 10 all-time performances in different event areas which is always where we want to start at.”
