Landa, Havea Wins Highlight Day Two at Mt. SAC Relays


AZUSA, Calif. & WALNUT, Calif. – Arizona Track & Field finished day two of the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday.
 
The Wildcats’ distance crew posted numerous personal bests at the Bryan Clay Invitational, which concluded on Friday. This was the first full day of competition at the Mt. SAC Relays for the team. At the competition, the team added more personal bests and all-time UA performances. Both meets featured some of the top teams and athletes in the nation.

The Wildcats posted four top-two finishes in collegiate throwing events at Mt. SAC. Zach Landa won the discus, Tapenisa Havea won the discus, Youssef Koudssi finished runner-up in the shot put, and Mackenna Orie finished runner-up in the discus.

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS

Zach Landa won the men’s collegiate discus with a big personal best throw of 193-2 (58.89m). That mark ranks 10th all-time in school history in the event. It bested Landa’s previous personal record by almost 2m. Additionally, Richard Legarra finished eighth overall in the event with a personal best throw.

Tapenisa Havea won the women’s collegiate discus, and Mackenna Orie finished runner-up.  Havea’s best throw of the competition was 178-11 (54.54m) and Orie’s best was 177-8 (54.15m).

 

In the B section of the women’s elite pole vault, freshman Jathiyah Muhammad finished fifth, matching her personal best clearance of 13-9.25 (4.20m). Olivia Dillon placed ninth with a clearance of 12-9.5 (3.90m). Ena McMahon tied for second with a personal best clearance of 12-9.5 (3.90m) in the women’s collegiate pole vault.

 

Youssef Koudssi finished runner-up in the men’s collegiate shot put with a throw of 57-10.25 (17.63m). In the women’s collegiate shot put, Lauryn Love placed fourth with a mark of 49-9.25 (15.17m).

 

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS

Freshman Bogdan Vidojkovic clocked a personal best time of 14.14 in the men’s collegiate 110m hurdles and placed fourth.
