GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The men’s and women’s track and field teams finished the Tom Jones Invitational on Saturday (April 19). Phethisang Makhethe moved up to second on the hammer throw program leaderboard with her 65.46m (214-9) toss that placed her third in today’s competition. Jordan Koskondy placed fifth with the program’s third-best throw, 64.80m (212-7).
In the women’s high jump invite, Bara Sajdokova and Rose Yeboah each cleared 1.78m (5-10) to tie for second place. Viktor Morozov claimed the bronze medal in the invitational section of the triple jump, 15.70m (51-6 1/4) and Llyric Driscoll placed third in the 100m hurdles running 14 seconds flat.
Will Rezny finished fifth in the shot put, 18.04m (59-2 1/4), and Tadeas Placek placed ninth in the 800m invitational section (1:48.13). The men’s 4x400m of Jackson Gilbert, Tadeas Placek, Dewayne Johnson and Alex Ornelas ended the meet placing 15th (3:09.28).

The Orange and Blue track and field squads return to action Saturday (April 26) for their outdoor home opener, the Fighting Illini Twilight, starting at 1 p.m. CT at Demirjian Park.
