JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 1, 2025) – South Carolina Track & Field will close the outdoor regular season this weekend, competing in the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Fla.

Meet Information
The East Coast Relays will be a two-day meet held at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium beginning tomorrow, May 2 and will conclude on Saturday, May 3. Hodges Stadium is also the site of the 2025 NCAA East Regional. The first field event on Friday for the Gamecocks will be the men’s pole vault at 2 p.m., while the first track event will be the men’s 400-meter hurdles at 6 p.m. South Carolina will compete in 13 events on Friday, followed by 19 events on Saturday. Saturday will begin with the women’s 100-meter hurdles on the track at 9 a.m. and conclude with the 4×400 meter relay at 3:30 p.m.
Just the Beginning
The Gamecocks have just one regular season outdoor meet remaining this weekend before the grind of postseason competition. Following the East Coast Relays, South Carolina will then compete in the SEC Outdoor Championship (May 15-17), NCAA East Regional (May 28-31) and then the NCAA Outdoor Championship (June 11-14).
Down to the Wire
With just two meets remaining before the NCAA East Regional, the regional leaderboard watch is officially on. The top 48 individual athletes will qualify for the regional competition in late May, while the top 24 relay teams will make the cut off.
The Gamecocks currently have 40 combined entries ranked inside the top 48 in the East Regional, including 21 entries for the women. The Gamecock women boast 10 entries inside the top 10 on the regional leaderboard. JaMeesia Ford ranks first in the 200m (22.40), second in the 100m (11.06) and fourth in the 400m (50.43). Meanwhile, Salma Elbadra also ranks inside the top three as she sits second in the region in the 1500m with a mark of 4:05.85. The relays have been a strong point for the Gamecock women, with both the 4x100m (42.74) and the 4x400m (3:26.24) holding on to the top slot in the regional standings.
As for the men’s team, there are 19 entries inside the top 48 with six marks inside the top 10. CJ Licata leads the individual charge as he ranks second in the region in the shot put after throwing 20.23m (66-4.5).
