LEXINGTON, Ky. – Vanderbilt Track and Field got the weekend started at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Lexington, Kentucky, with a trio of program all-time top 10 marks, several season and personal bests and a finals qualification from Allyria McBride.
Devyn Parham and Marta Sivina, sit in fourth and sixth place, respectively, in the heptathlon after the four events on the first day of competition. Parham got the day started with a personal-best time of 13.26 in the 100-meter hurdles, shaving almost half a second off her previous best time and moving to second all-time at Vandy. Sivina also turned in a personal best in the 100 hurdles, clocking 13.85 seconds. In the high jump, both Dores cleared 1.62 meters, a season best for Parham.
Moving onto the shot put, Parham threw 10.46 meters, and Sivina recorded an 11.70-meter mark. Two more PRs in the 200 meters ended the day for the multis. Parham registered a time of 24.35 seconds to bring her Day-1 total to 3,352 points. Sivina crossed the finish line in 25.05 seconds to end the day with 3,282 points.
In the 800 meters, Eva Gautreaux came in 12th place with a time of 2:07.50.
Tina Benzinger clocked 23.80 seconds in the 200 meters.
McBride earned her spot in Saturday’s 400-meter hurdles final finishing second in her heat with a season-best time of 56.17 seconds. In the same event, Joy Moorer PRed for the second straight race with a 58.34-second time, which is ranked eighth in the program record books.
Gigi Clifford ended the night for the Dores with a time of 36:40.48 and a top-15 finish in the 10,000 meters.
