EUGENE, Ore. – The Wisconsin women’s track and field program completed day two of the Big Ten Outdoor Championships with a couple of standout performances, led by the likes of Taylor Kesner in the discus and Emma Kelley in the 800 meters.
Kesner excels in discus, earns bronze
Kesner continued her strong season in the throws, as she secured a third-place finish in the discus with the help of her top heave in the final round of action—tallying a mark of 179 feet, 8 inches (54.76 meters). The native of Highland, Illinois, notched her season best in the process—attaining that mark for the second time in as many competitions.
Kelley qualifies for finals in 800 meters
Kelley earned her spot in the finals of the 800 meters after tallying a fifth-place finish in the trials at Hayward Field on Saturday night.
Kelley turned in a time of 2:04.78 and placed second in her heat. She will return to competition tomorrow at 4:04 p.m. CT to push for an individual championship.
Heptathlon wraps up for Badgers
Shaina Zinter put together a season-best in the heptathlon at the conclusion of her seven events to place 11th overall with 5276 points. The junior took fourth in the 800 meters and sixth in the javelin. Senior Taylor Kesner
“It was fun. Not everyone was throwing at their best and I think we needed some juice. I think everybody in that sixth round got going, the winner got the sixth round, my throw was in the sixth round. That was the fun part, it was kind of dead for most of it, so it was good to end it off well.”
Up Next: The Badgers wrap up action at the 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday at Hayward Field. Taylor Kesner will open action for UW in the javelin at noon CT. Fans can watch the action live on Big Ten Plus or on RunnerSpace while Big Ten Network will begin coverage at 2:30 p.m. CT
