Logan Rees and Morag Millar claim golds after an exciting Friday night of road racing in Edinburgh (photos by Neil Renton)
Logan Rees smashed the Course Record to claim his first Scottish 5K Championship gold at sun-kissed Silverknowes.
It was a night of high drama beside the seaside in Edinburgh with Morag Millar taking the title for the third time in her career in a similarly close Women’s race.
Sunshine and windy conditions made for a familiar backdrop – and the times collectively were as fast as they often are in this event (35 men went sub 15 minutes).
Faster than ever before, in point of fact, at the very sharp end of the Men’s race as all three medallists broke the existing 14:12 Course Record (set by Jamie Crowe in 2023).

Cambuslang Harriers took the Men’s team golds with a superb effort that amassed only 12 points with Callum Tharme in fourth and Ryan Thomson at sixth. Central AC took silvers and the bronzes headed to Fife AC.
Millar was home in 15:57 to finish first – just – and ahead of Nancy Scott (Edinburgh AC) in 15:59 and Lyn McKenna (Shettleston Harriers) in 16:03.
Evergreen Morag headed the scramble for the line to add to her title wins here back in 2014 and 2019.
‘I’ve won here before and set my 5k road PB here so it is a good venue for me,’ she said, after winning in 15:57 minutes.
‘I think I was third coming into the final stages with Nancy and Lyn just ahead. But I managed to pull out a bit more and finish fast.
‘I raced the Black Rock 5 last week and that…
