Three Terps Qualify for Finals at Big Ten Championships Day Two


EUGENE, OR The Terps completed day two at the Big Ten Championships today with Maya Valmon, Eric Albright, and Kami Joi Hickson qualifying for finals.

Valmon got second in her heat in the women’s 400m with a time of 53.33 seconds to qualify for the finals. Back in 1993 at Hayward Field, her father and current Track Terps Head Coach, Andrew Valmon, ran one of his best 400s too, “I ran my fastest time ever 44.28 in 1993 to make the world championship team, which we eventually went on to break the world record.”

Eric Albright won his heat in the men’s 800m to automatically qualify for the finals with a time of 1 minute, 48.54 seconds.

On the women’s side of the 800m, Kami Joi Hickson also won her heat at 2 minutes, 7.25 seconds. Her performance improved her personal record and keeps her at fifth all-time in program history.
